Uganda Natural Hair Scene

Recently one of the Natural Toto facebook family remarked on the photos of Natural girls in Nairobi saying she wished some of the Natural fabulosity should be sent across to Kampala, this got me to a bit of research about Natural hair in Uganda and how that scene is looking like. At first I thought that maybe like most African countries it would be a disappointment, but thankfully I was beautifully suprised.

Uganda has a small but growing natural community, maybe they don't all know each other but i believe wearing hair natural is also gaining momentum there.

First thing I came across during my research was a post on the online magazine Free Uganda, which expect for some crazy over the top photos by the girls I really love. The magazine talked about how natural hair is the new cool... and this is like 2yrs ago. The post titled "Natural Hair is the new Cool" goes to talk about the the experience of one girl's venture to the natural hair world.

I also came across this salon SUQA which is jointly owned by two beautiful sisters Seanice and Nancy (who has been natural for the past 3yrs) Kacungira. The salon caters for both relaxed and natural hair girls. This was a beautiful surprise since even here in Kenya, am yet to come across a salon that really cares for natural hair. The salon is situated in Kampala, Uganda's capital so I believe that it is a convenient spot.

I would definitely like to try the salon when I visit to Uganda and also visit my Kick ass sistahs! at Free Uganda ~ Uhuru Sasa! Love your spirits!
